In The Wilderness Of My Mind I Seek That Which Has Abandoned Me--Peace
prev / next
On the journey of rediscovery, I often retreat into my mind and seek the quiet corners I know are still there waiting to comfort me in my loss and sadness. It's a familiar terrain, but I sometimes find myself lost there as if wandering in a blizzard, unable to find what I'm looking for as the pain of what I survived can sometimes make my brain feel like a cold and unfamiliar place. So this piece came together almost as if I was creating a topographical map back to me. Every hill and valley outlined against a harsh landscape and sparkling all over as if it is inviting me home to the lush green valleys of happiness that lie beneath this cold outer shell.
In the Wilderness is a multi-layer composition created with molding paste, glass bead paste, and acrylic paint on gallery-wrapped canvas. Measuring 36 x 36, it is wired and ready for display or sale. It is priced at $3,500.
